I’m Cristina Evans—wife, partner, best friend, and mom to three amazing kids (plus one cat). I have two wonderful adult children—one married, the other in college—and a younger one still in primary school. She’s a bundle of energy, curiosity, and boundless imagination. Honestly, she’s the little gift the universe sent to complete our family.

My Journey into Maternal Health

My journey into the maternal health field began with my own experiences as a mother. When I gave birth, I felt confident and empowered, which I knew was a gift. But many new parents I met didn’t have the same experience. I learned that many felt unheard, and far too often, they left their births feeling deflated. This wasn’t acceptable to me, so I decided to do something about it.

Experience & Training

In my search for better ways to support families during this transformative time, I discovered Doulas of North America (DONA). Something clicked as I read about the work doulas do, and I knew supporting families in their journey into parenthood was my path. Supporting a friend through her birth solidified that decision, and in 2012, I completed my DONA birth doula training. From there, I began attending births, and in 2019, I became a community doula with a local community-based maternal health organization.

Evolving Support: Virtual Doula Services

For the past 12 years, I’ve worked in maternal health, beginning as a birth doula—a role I truly loved. While I later shifted my focus to pregnancy and postpartum care, today I offer comprehensive virtual doula support, including virtual labor support. This evolution allows me to support families during the full journey of pregnancy, birth, and beyond—wherever they are. I cherish this work and am grateful to offer flexible, meaningful care while also being more present for my own family. It’s a balance that feels just right.

Why I Do This Work

Being a doula is about more than just birth—it’s about the whole experience. It’s about supporting the people who will care for the new life, nurturing them, and strengthening their bond. This connection can build their confidence as new parents and lay the foundation for a healthy, loving family. I believe that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves access to compassionate, non-judgmental care. Supporting families of all kinds and honoring their unique needs is at the heart of what I do.

Virtual Support Nationwide

We recently relocated to the Farmington Valley area of Connecticut, but my work in maternal health remains far-reaching. With over 12 years of experience supporting growing families, I now offer virtual pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support to clients nationwide. Though I have deep ties to Richmond, VA, my services are available no matter where you live. Whether you're preparing for birth, navigating postpartum recovery, or adjusting to life with a newborn, I’m here to support you—every step of the way.
