Comfort Techniques For Labor

In this three hour class session you will learn how you can incorporate positioning, massage, relaxation, visualization, breathing, aromatherapy, and acupressure into your birth experience.  This is a great interactive class for couples taking a basic childbirth education class, or couples wanting a refresher course for a second baby!  You will leave with hands on practice and cheat notes to have handy at your birth.  This class is created and delivered by Cristina Evans and Joy Kraynak, birth doulas with over 10 years combined experience.

Cost: $90 (Includes birthing person and partner) Sign up www.joyfulbirthrva.com/classes.

Postpartum Prep: Easing Your Transition Into Parenthood

As a birth doula and mother, I have seen that there is often a disconnection of care after the birth of our children. We have our babies and are sent home with a "good luck" and recommendation to sleep when the baby sleeps, but we need more than that. This time is sacred and even if you’ve had other children, you will never get this time with this child again.

Preparing for the physical and emotional changes that occur following birth can be helpful to ease this transition. During our time together, we will address your needs (physical & emotional), the needs of your baby, and how you can feel confident in asking for accepting help. This is an opportunity to discuss desires, hopes, and expectations along with ways to integrate them into your postpartum plan.

This is a wonderful option for all types of families regardless of the type of birth you are aiming for, birthing location, or feeding choice.

Cost: $40 (Includes birthing person and partner) Sign up at www.joyfulbirthrva.com/classes

Affirmations for Birth: Chat & Banner Making

The connection between positive thinking and the body is so important and strong during pregnancy, childbirth, and even postpartum. We are at our most open and vulnerable during this time, so it stands to reason that the thoughts that we and others introduce to our psyche can have a lasting effect.  This time period in someone’s life is often portrayed in popular culture as unpredictable, painful, and scary. Growing up, we tend to be told enough birth horror stories that by the time it’s our turn, we are so ingrained with the “what ifs” and negative expectations that these thoughts become our own emotional baggage.

Reframing the way that we look at childbirth and the time surrounding it, is one of the best gifts that we can give ourselves. Joy Kraynak of Joyful Birth Services and I will be collaborating again to help you make this shift at our upcoming Affirmations Workshop at Embrace Midwifery Care & Birth Center here in Richmond. During the FREE event, we’ll be not only discussing how to change our outlook, but also make an affirmations banner for you to focus on! The last few have been alot of fun!

All supplies are included with this fabulous free event!
