By now, I think just about everyone has heard that Kate Middleton has celebrated the arrival of her first child. While the world was on “Baby Watch,” I couldn't help but wonder how she felt as she watched her due date come and go amidst so much media attention. Even more so, I wonder if when the time finally came, was she was surrounded by caregivers that supported her desires during her labor (regardless of her "social standing")? I can only hope that she was able to have an empowering and completely personal birth experience.
It’s important to remember that due dates are not exact. Expectant moms all too often watch their due dates go from being the day they were going to meet their baby to the date they had been hoping and counting on. The range of emotions felt is already strong without friends and family asking "is that baby ever going to come?!" Please keep this in mind the next time you have a loved one in the latter stages of her pregnancy. I assure you, there is no one more anxious then her.
